Just a quick note 'cos i'm certain we're all busy with summative
preps: Renal Quiz will be conducted this coming Tuesday.
We're currently on a shortage for teams. We've got ourselves one full
team and are lagging behind on three more. Our pathologists at uni,
Dr.'s Thani, Sri, Annie and Vijay have gone out of their way to give
us an additional opportunity to learn and further understand this
system- it'd be a shame if we were not there to utilise it.
So please guys, help me by getting your team of 4 set up. It doesn't
matter if you've participated in the quiz before... it's still fair
share. This is your opportunity to strut your stuff... if you've
always been a keen audience member and never had the chance (or
courage) to get down there and be involved first hand in the quiz.
What've you got to lose anyways?
Just drop me an e-mail or text letting me know if you're interested, I
can help you form a team if you're short a few members.
That's all for now, have a great day and happy studying!

Msg from Infinity Milers
(Quoted from mass-sent e-mail):
Hello M107!
We, from Infinity Milers, would like to introduce you to one of the most highly awaited events of the year - the Genting Trailblazers! Unlike most runs, the Genting Trailblazers is a 2-man team adventure run, which combines both trail running and obstacle navigation through muddy terrain, jungle trails and much more, at 1500m above sea level. Located at the scenic, Awana Genting Highlands and its surrounding forest, competitors can choose to approach the run with all guns blazing, aiming for a Top 10 Finish (whereby you can win up to RM2000 in cash prize!) or just choose to enjoy the run with a friend, while soaking in what Nature and the trail has to give. Depending on what your traget is, there are 2 categories - Competitive and Adventure, with the Competitive category promising more lucrative prizes. Here are the details of the competition:
Venue: Awana Genting Highlands, Genting.
Date: November 2nd (Sunday) 2008
Price: RM268 per team (Competitive category), RM168 per team (Adventure category)
Closing date: October 15th (Wednesday) 2008
Also, IMU has tentatively agreed to subsidise a portion of the participation fees, making this competition relatively inexpensive, compared to other adventure races organised throughout the year.
I've enclosed the Entry Form for Genting Trailblazers in this email. If you have any enquiries, please contact myself, Ray Mun (012-679 9642) or visit the Genting Trailblazers website here. For those who intend to participate, please contact me by the morning of 15th October, Wednesday.
Regards,
ray mun :)

Updates from SRC-Batch Rep Meeting
Hey everyone, the following is based on a meeting Yuan Liang and I attended. An email was sent out to you already but this is for your reference:
Issues discussed-
1) Library Noise:
We've had numerous complaints regarding the noise from the library cafe. I'm sure we all appreciate this brilliant addition to our uni, but the only way we can prevent it from being brought down is by reducing the noise levels at the cafe.
The SRC have already put up signs around the cafe, take note and lets do our part in ensuring that future batches and ourselves can enjoy our new facility.
2) Car Park:
Regarding safety issues; it is strongly encouraged that you bring your car down into the SB parking (in IMU) after 6.30 as it will be FREE!
Also, take note that parking in the sub-basement will also be FREE on weekends.
(Some guards on duty are apparently not aware of this new change, make it known to them and request a receipt to reclaim any fee you are made to pay)
3) Canteen:
The canteen staff have already bucked up a notch and we can do our part in making the canteen a more user-friendly area by cleaning up after ourselves. Simple and effective! :)
4) Dress Code:
Due to harsh letters received from Partner Medical Schools regarding the unprofessional dress attire of our IMU students, the dress code rules are being enforced (and rather strictly, at that).
Please follow the dress code especially on weekdays from (8am to 6pm).
The SRC have already sent out warning letters to violators. Future reprimands would come from higher IMU authorities (eg. the Dean of Medicine). Let's all just avoid this entirely by simply abiding by the rules!
5) Lost and Found:
If you've lost an item, proceed to the 1st floor, next to the admin department.
Lodge your report here (instead of SRC) and make sure to follow-up with them as replies are virtually non-existant, from past experience.
7) Employment opportunities at IMU:
i) IT: Spots are still open for anyone interested in working for the IT department. Remember guys, there will be an hourly salary allocated to all student employees (the rates are still under negotiation). If you're interested, contact either Yuan Liang, Geowin or myself.
ii) LIBRARY CAFE: Take note of the sign at the cashier desk of the cafe, if you are interested in making that extra buck, please contact the cafe operator (as stated on the sign).
iii) LIBRARY: If you already love spending your time at our new and improved library and have some time to spare, this job would appeal to you. There may be spots opening for students to help out at the library and get paid for it. If you're interested, contact Yuan Liang or myself.
8) Forum:
The forum is finally up and running, please visit (www.imucampus.com) and save it as a permanent bookmark!
Please sign up and utilize it to its fullest. As done previously (before the unfortunate breakdown of our last forum), the timetables and system/course manuals will be made available for you there too!
9) Talk on Acne:
Did you know that our very own Prof Ong Kok Hai and his team have developed products that have been mass produced and made available to the public. Go check your local pharmacist and i'm pretty certain you'd come across "Infinit" and the like.
Well, there'll be a talk on it on Thursday, 25/9/08, (12.45pm at Auditorium). Please contact us if you're interested.
10) Friday Focus:
Our new addition brought to you by the Pathology faculty focuses on a wide range of medically related topics. Some sessions may highlight case studies and some may shed light on topics highly relevant to the medical field (eg. Last Friday's session focused on dietary habits of Diabetics). I thoroughly enjoyed it and you probably would too!
It's held in the library, at the MMS section, in a discussion theatre around the "quieter" part of the library. It's on every friday at 2pm.
(Given that our PBL2 is scheduled for that time, if your PBL facilitator permits a rescheduling of your session, take full advantage to attend these sessions)

Firstly, hope your week has been good thus far! Well, to get the ball
rolling, the first notice is regarding the Quiz for the Endocrine
System. It will go as scheduled in our timetables for this Thursday at
4pm-6.30pm
Take note that Dr.Thani will be conducting the Case Study (that was
postponed from last week) during the first 45minutes of the time
allocated for the Quiz on Thurs! So, please be punctual if you'd like
to get an in depth summary on the Endocrine System.
Regarding the quiz, it's still not too late to hand in your names if
you're interested in becoming one of the contestants. Here's your
chance to enjoy intellectual competition in our course... take full
opportunity if you've been interested and haven't put your name in
before. It's a rather exhilarating session, from experience! Please
inform either yuan liang or myself by later today because i'll still
scouting around for people willing to participate (total of 16
students, like usual)... no worries if you've participated before,
just hand in your names.
I think it's just about enough information for one email, please take
note of the above updates as they'd most prob apply to all of you.
On another note, Repro system timetables and manuals are up and ready
for collection either prior to or after Achike's lecture tomo... so
please attend to get your copy!
With that, I shall leave you! Toodles, mateys!
ps. 1. Pls come support our M107 Diamonds at the Male Basketball finals, tomorrow (Wednesday) at the court in front of the IMU building.
2. Lets dig deep into our pockets and splurge at the food fair/ps2 competitions in support of our fellow batchmates' efforts in Martial Arts Week 2008. I assure you, Ian hasn't bribed me enough to advertise for him, but yeah... go show support la ppl! :D

HAPPY MERDEKA!!
Hope everyone's had a terrific long weekend... albeit falling into a healthy rhythm of new systems in Semester 4 or reveling in celebrations of Malaysia's independence.
Well, after the suggestion of a batch blog came up at our last SRC-BatchRep meeting- just thought twas about time we get our own community blog for M107 up and running. It'd just serve as another mode to get the information we receive out there to you. Essentially, effectively disseminate the information that is handed to us.
Anywho, Yuan Liang and I will be updating here regularly so keep your eyes peeled and hopefully save this link as a bookmark/tab (or under favourites). Check back here daily for anything new. If you'd like to post anything on here (advertisements for your clubs etc.), feel free to send us an email with the necessary attached.
That will be all for now. Have a great Monday and we'll be seeing each other on the 2nd of Sept.
Btw, come support our fellow batch mates' effort in:
1. Martial Arts Week festivities that will commense this Tuesday
2. IMU Cup; Girls Basketball at 7pm. (M107 v. M207)
Woo woo! :D
